PinPoint Mouse Enhancer App Reviews

If you like ugly but friendly then this app is for you.

This is a nice operating app but alas ugly pointers. Someone must have worked in a circus to come up with these pointers. Please hire someone who has superior design skills. I also loaded Mousepose at the same time but it darkens the screen for its flashlight cursor to work, which makes PinPoint a better app in my opinion. The only pointer I liked in PinPoint was the arrow.

One feature makes it all worthwhile

I run OSX 10.8.4 on a Mac Mini with 16GB and a 1TB fusion drive. I have two Dell U3011 monitors. One via the thunderbolt + Dual link adapter and one via the Startech USB3 to Displayport. Both monitors run at 2560x1600. Finding the cursor was a nightmare. PinPoint provides a fullscreen crosshair cursor that I could not live without. I can always find the cursor, and I can line things up across the two displays. I migrated to the Mini from a dead Mac Pro with two adapter cards. I was concerned that the USB Adapter might give PinPoint trouble, but it worked like a charm. I am not sure that I am the typical PinPoint customer, but I am certainly an appreciative customer. Wonderful product. Responsive and competent support staff. A class act all the way.

Excellente!

I do a lot of remote working with teams and Webex, Skype or Join.met screen sharing of work where we walk through project screens. This little utility really helps me in my day-to-day work.

Current Issue being fixed

Developer says the bug with the current version is fixed and in review. Might want to wait until 3.7.8 is available if you need more options than On all the time...

Fantastic product, Great attention to customer support!

Pinpoint is simply indispensable for my MacBook Air use and became so much so that I installed it on my 27” iMac. The “on while moving” setting is just perfect in the sense that the normal cursor remains unobtrusive when the pinpoint highlight is not needed, especially for text entry but my gosh, what a dream to avoid the “now where did I last park the cursor?” issue once I’ve changed screens or simply want to avoid the dreaded seek-into-a corner inadvertent hot-corners activation! When the update had a bug, customer support answered consistently fast, offered a work-around that kept me going until the update and the update showed up with a email notice to customers the moment it was in place. While this service level is a hopeful expectation with the less-cost application vendors, Lagente Software sets the standard in service, updates and continued product support. Could NOT be happier. From my experience, this is the best, most cost effective solution to a vexing problem with no comparable solutions via the Mac OS. With the level of support, I can’t see how you would regret this purchase.

Awesome app, even better customer support!!

Developer responded to me within the day to an issue in the previous version & within those same 24hrs had pushed an updated version to Apple. The app is better than ever and working as advertised. Launch on login is also working, which was previously not working for me. Thanks again!!

Works well.

I like the "Red Arrow” style the best, at 0.5 transparency. It allows me to see the mouse pointer without blocking the text or tool tip behind it. Originally I wanted to use the pointer enlargement feature that is built into OS X, but the enlarged mouse pointer, when used in GarageBand, actually blocked some important tool tips that were displaying the audio parameters. A semi-transparent pointer gives me the best of both worlds.

Great app for presentations

I do sales presentations and have to demonstrate software on web conferences every day. I use this for every presentation and it is extrememly helpful to people that are viewing. Greg Product, highly recommended.

Great Job

Hi! Everyone. I work on computer all the time. some times make presentations as well. But you know what? No mater what kind of work you do on computers, this app is a must to have. It will make your life a lot easier finding mouse and making beautiful presentations. Why didn’t apple thought about it? Anyway these guys deserve credit and i recommend it to everyone.

Surprisnigly excellent service

I’ve used PinPoint now for several years, and find it to be really useful when I work with large screens attached to my MacBook. I recently migrated machines and OS versions and had a problem with PiPoint (or so I thought - the problem turned out to be mine). I wrote an email to their service address asking for help. It was a Sunday morning, and I received a very helpful e-mailed response in less than an hour. That’s unusual in my experience, and highly commendable. I recommend this product.

Essential for any scientist!

I adore PinPoint. I only use one functionality: the full-screen crosshairs. I have it set to toggle on and off with a single key-stroke. Any time I am looking at a plot (which I do ~100x a day), I have a really easy way to read off values for the data points. I’ve been using PinPoint for about 8 years (long before there was an “App Store”) and, at this point, it is an essential piece of functionality that I require for my day-to-day work. I wouldn’t want to live without it. $5 may seem pricey for that one functionality, but it’s like the perfect pair of jeans: might seem expensive when you buy it, but you get more use out of it than all the rest of your App/wardrobe put together.

I Can See The Mouse...

so it does what I need it to do. And it has optional sizes, speed, transparency, styles, colors, etc. On my iMAC 2009 quad it uses 2.4% CPU, 30MB RAM and a 7 Energy Impact. It flows between Dual-Monitors well. Speaking of…I don’t understand how a mouse cannot flow from monitor to monitor. But I have read a review where one app did not. How is that possible if the desktop is merely “extended”? Is it not still one desktop? Anyway, this app is good.

Nice App - One Request

This is a nice app to enhance the use of the mouse and cursor. Would the developer please consider adding the ability to automatically move the cursor to the default button whenever a dialog box appears on the screen? This would save time moving the mouse to dismiss dialogs. This feature alone would increase sales as no one else has an app that does this. Many users, especially Windows switchers and long time users of the now defunct Lazy Mouse, would gladly pay for this functionality.

Works perfectly.

I was disappointed to find that OS X doesn’t let you change the mouse cursor. A black cursor can easily be lost amongst many terminal windows. After using the trial app for about 5 days, I bought this on the Mac App Store. This app does exactly what I was hoping to accomplish. Make it so the cursor has some red color on or around it, so I can find it amongst black windows. I highly recommend it!

Doesn’t happen every click

The cursor click animation only registers only about a quarter of the time, and that’s no good. Should register every time I click. Would be 5 stars if this was the case.

Works as advertised

I use this for pointing clearly to things while giving presentations over the web; it works well and I recommend it. My only complaint is that the “large arrow” can’t be made smaller than cartoonishly large — you can adjust size, but the mimimum size is about twice the size that I’d prefer.

Two problems…

Money well spent! There are many useful features in PinPoint; full screen crosshairs especially. Only problems are, using Yosemite (OS 10.10.3) the Finder will hang if I try to drag and drop files or folders. This might have something to do with using multiple displays; and the contact link on the Lagente website is 404 (today anyway), so I can’t get support for this apparent glitch. I hope they will read this review…

Does not work with Macbook Pro 15” mid 2015.

It worked with my older Macbook but not with Macbook Pro 15” mid 2015 with the AMD Radeon R9 M370X with 2GB GDDR5 memory. It is always off. Toggle it on or off has no effect. I cannot rated it for this model.

So In Love!

I love this app so much for all of the customization it gives me for my cursor! I make sure it’s fired up every-time I turn on my Mac! And I keep recomeding it! It’s awesome!

TOGGLE WORKS JUST ONCE UNTIL SETTINGS USED

The pinpoint around the mouse defaults to ON and toggles OFF. After that, it will not toggle ON. If one goes to its settings and simply chooses “Always ON” (which it was anyhow) then the toggle will work. This is still the case after the last update. And true after 3.7.12.
